Hi, my name is Silke Wittig.  I am the owner and president of HeRo Canine Consulting, LLC. I came over from Germany in 2003. I am a Certified Pet Dog Trainer (CPDT) and a Certified Humane Education Specialist (CHES). I have a Bachelor of Animal Psychology and a Master of Veterinary Science degree. I am also a member of the APDT (Association of Pet Dog trainers), NADOI (National Association of Dog Obedience Instructors) and IAABC (International Association of Animal Behaviour Consultants). I am a certified “Assess-A-Pet” shelter dog evaluator, a “Canine Good Citizen” evaluator for the AKC (American Kennel Club) and hold a “First Aid/CPR” certification for both humans and pets.  I am also a certified canine massage practitioner.  I attend seminars on dog training, dog behaviour and canine well-being on a regular basis to update my knowledge and handling skills.

Both of my dogs are shelter dogs. Hercules is a certified Therapy Dog and goes on visits to nursing homes, libraries, and schools. He is very laid back and likes to live the life of a couch-potato with lots of attention and treats!! On the other hand Ronya is a bundle of energy. She does freestyle (dancing with dogs), agility and competition obedience with me. Her favourite hobbies are swimming, popping blown-up balloons, and digging in the snow. My cat Mississippi (which was named by our nephews after they came back from a vacation to the states and BEFORE we even knew we were to move there) is an outdoor-indoor cat and just loves life. She even runs around in the rain and snow!!

I believe that every dog and cat is an individual with specific needs.  My experience and education have given me many different tools to deal with a large variety of behavioural issues, general pet training and well-being.  I love a challenge and look forward to meeting you, your pooch and your kitty!
