"ADOPTED"!!

This is Sandy.  He is a handsome male Brittany-Pit Bull Mix with one blue eye and was born around February 2005.   He was found wandering in the streets of Auburn wearing a collar and leash on March 23, 2006, and stayed at the Humane Society of DeKalb County until August 2, 2006.  Somebody recognized Sandy and told the shelter that he had belonged to an elderly lady, but he was not reclaimed.  Sandy is now being fostered by Silke, owner of HeRo Canine Consulting, LLC, who also got him neutered and micro-chipped.  Sandy has had all his vaccinations, incl. rabies and kennel cough, and has been dewormed.  He is heart-worm free.

Sandy is very social; he loves people and most other dogs.  He is very curious about small critters, wildlife animals and  also my cat (who is very dog-savvy).   In the house he just sniffs her and follows her around but he does chase her when she is outside and running.  Sandy is very self-confident and smart and loves to be outside in any weather.  He has a lot of energy and needs an active home.  He enjoys being petted and being played with.  He is an escape artist and somewhat independent, so he needs to be managed, trained and supervised constantly.  His obedience training is going very well, and he already knows his name, sit, down, stay, come (most of the time J), leave it, back up, touch (the hand).  He is housetrained and walks nicely on leash most of the time.

Due to Sandy’s long stay at the shelter, he has become somewhat dog-reactive on leash and behind barriers.  Silke is currently working with him on this issue and is confident it can be resolved over time.  Sandy gets on and plays with most dogs, though he will accept a challenge from other dominant dogs.

Sandy would make an good family pet in an active household that already has experience with dogs.  He is good in the car, and hardly barks.  Sandy would do well in a household with another playful dog, though not with another dominant male.

If you are interested in adopting Sandy, please contact Silke at 574-612 8170 or contact@herocanineconsulting.com.

"ADOPTED"!!

This is Luna.  She is an Australian Cattledog-Pit Bull Mix and was born around April 2005.   Her owner dropped her off at the Humane Society of DeKalb County in September, when he could not take care of her any longer.  She is now being fostered by Silke, owner of HeRo Canine Consulting, LLC.

Luna is very social; she loves people and other dogs.  She has shown curiosity in my cat (who is very dog-savvy), but not chased her (yet).  Luna is very self-confident, intelligent and very eager to please.  She has a lot of energy, but can also calm herself down very easily.  She loves being petted all over, and is very food-motivated (good for training J).  She enjoys learning new things, and would probably make a great agility or freestyle dog.  Her sits and downs are very good already, and we are at the moment working on stay, go to crate and walking on a loose leash.  So far she has not had an accident in the house yet, but of course we always make sure that we take her out regularly and supervise her during the time she is loose in the house.

Luna would make an awesome family pet.  She is good in the car, and hardly barks.  She would also do well in a household with another dog: either a male or a submissive female.  I would not put her with another dominant female.

Luna still needs to get spayed and micro-chipped.

If you would like more information about this little girl, please contact Silke at 574-612 8170 or contact@herocanineconsulting.com or the Humane Society of DeKalb County at 260-868 2409.
